In a world that often celebrates mainstream achievements, many individuals with rare hobbies quietly work to preserve India’s cultural and historical treasures. From collecting matchbox labels to safeguarding vintage photographs, their efforts often go unnoticed despite their immense value. To honour these unsung heroes, the Hindustan Global Icon Awards were introduced. Launched by renowned Bollywood director Dr. Bapurao Sarvagod, this initiative aims to bring the spotlight on passionate hobbyists who are the silent custodians of India’s glorious legacy. These awards celebrate their dedication and inspire others to cherish our shared heritage.
The Hindustan Global Icon Awards brochure was unveiled by celebrated Bollywood director Dr. Bapurao Sarvagod at the historic Mumbadevi Temple in Mumbai. This special event brought attention to individuals with rare hobbies, highlighting their contributions to preserving India’s cultural and historical essence. Dr. Bapurao Sarvagod praised the initiative, calling it a “unique encouragement” for those safeguarding our heritage. Dr Bapurao Sarvagod said “These awards are unique and encouraging for preservers of our cultural heritage.”
Organised by Vistarana Info under the Vistarana Mass Communication Society, the awards honour hobbyists who preserve India's legacy. These categories include unique interests like Phillumeny (matchbox label collection), Philately (stamp collecting), and Numismatics (coin collecting). By showcasing such passions, the awards aim to bring lesser-known hobbies into the limelight.
Hobbies like stamp collecting and antique preservation have long been a part of India's history. During colonial times, Indian collectors started documenting stamps and coins to preserve cultural stories. Today, these efforts help us connect with the past. The Hindustan Global Icon Awards continue this tradition, giving recognition to those who carry forward this legacy.
Rare hobbyists are often unsung heroes, working quietly to safeguard artifacts and memories. Whether it's vintage photography or preserving historical paper clippings, their work bridges the past and present. By acknowledging their efforts, these awards inspire more individuals to join in preserving India's cultural wealth.
The awards cover an impressive range of hobbies. From Antique collecting, Matchbox collection, Action figures and vintage photography and much more, it covers a diverse range.
These categories ensure that even the most niche interests find a platform for recognition. Shri K.V.R. Prasad, President of Vistarana Mass Communication Society, proudly introduced these unique segments during the event.
The Mumbadevi Temple served as a fitting venue for the brochure launch. Known for its historical significance, the temple symbolises Mumbai’s heritage, aligning perfectly with the awards’ mission of celebrating India’s cultural identity.
Nominations for the Hindustan Global Icon Awards are open until December 31, 2024. Hobbyists from across the country are encouraged to participate and showcase their unique contributions to India's legacy.
